As we have done at the beginning of every year for the past seven years, we tell you the results of our Christmas campaign with social value in which you may have participated. Thanks to the collaboration of our customers, 20 families living on the shores of Lake Chad (Chad) will improve their living conditions and see a viable present. These people participate in a program of Oxfam Intermón, the NGO we have worked with, which is developed under the idea “Let’s stop hunger, let’s change history”.
Thanks to the donation of our Christmas gift budget, families will have access to wells and water pumps to provide running water for domestic use, livestock and irrigation for their land. The program also provides food to its beneficiaries to facilitate, as much as possible, their daily lives.
To describe the emergency situation in which the inhabitants of Lake Chad are living, Oxfam Intermón has given voice to Djaboura, a woman who explains that “the dunes do not stop advancing and the sand is swallowing up my fields”. In recent years, the climate crisis has led to droughts, especially severe in the area. The lack of precipitation has caused the lake to lose 90% of its surface area. This causes serious supply problems for the populations settled on its shores and also the disappearance of another basic source of livelihood, fishing.
The collaboration of our customers has consisted, as every year, in clicking on an email that we send them to convert it into a donation. It is a quick gesture that directly serves one of the NGO’s objectives, to build a present without hunger.
“Once again this year, we thank our customers for their participation in this campaign, which turns something so simple into something so important for 20 families in Chad. For us it is very motivating, and even a responsibility, to channel this solidarity to the people who need it most through Oxfam Intermón’s experience and capacity for action”.
This Christmas campaign, together with those carried out in previous years with Unicef, Save The Children, Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders and Children’s Villages, is part of our corporate social responsibility strategy and our goal, as a committed and sustainable supplier, to contribute to the achievement of many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
By the way, if you have read this post but have not received our mail because you are not our client, or if you want to do something else, feel free to donate directly from the project page.
