Today, the concept of “sustainability” is on everyone’s lips: people, companies, governments, organizations and other social agents. But what does it mean in the business environment? In short, a sustainable company is one that is capable of generating a positive social and environmental impact through its regular and long-term activity. And to do so in combination with its ability to generate economic benefits, which is also assumed.
When a sustainable company is a supplier to other companies, the value of its sustainability is sometimes multiplied by passing on to the customer its respect for the environment and the well-being of people. This is the case of the MailComms Group and its member companies, MailTecK, Customer Comms and Contisystems (Portugal).
We are committed to sustainability. What’s more, we take it as a responsibility. And we feel good when we realize that we have a positive impact on the planet and society through our own activities and through the projects we implement for our clients. In other words, we not only work to achieve our own environmental goals, but also contribute to achieving those of others. And doing so, in addition to being good for the planet and people, also offers other cross-cutting benefits. Some of them are:
- Positive reputation.
- Tax benefits and advantages when permitted by law.
- Improvement of the work environment. This includes attracting talent.
- Durability. Sustainability implies a long-term projection, which facilitates the company’s stability.
- Cost savings. Respect for the environment is usually accompanied by issues such as the reuse of resources, energy efficiency or the responsible management of raw materials.
- Legal compliance. Sometimes sustainability also comes from legislation. Ensuring regulatory compliance also helps to avoid penalties.
- Economic advantages. Such as access to preferential financing or government contracts that require companies to meet certain levels of sustainability in order to access public tenders.
We present our Sustainability Plan
We manage our sustainability strategy by examining our business from top to bottom and reflecting the results in every action we take, no matter how small. And we have set out this strategy in our Sustainability Plan. You can read it by downloading it from this link.
If you are used to the language of social and environmental responsibility or if your company already works with it, in this plan you will find a series of common places that are there mainly for three reasons:
- Measure and know what we do well.
- Know what else we can do.
- Moving towards the goals we set for ourselves and the goals we set for ourselves.
Thus, in our plan we talk about the SDGs (UN Sustainable Development Goals) and what we contribute to their fulfillment. Also about our environmental objectives and the certifications that attest to what we achieve, our relationship with sustainable paper and cardboard (FSC© and PEFC chain of custody) and the CarbonQuota report (carbon footprint measurement, comparison with companies in the sector and “homework” for the coming years). In addition, we explain our decision to go for the digital transition without forgetting the paper in personalized communications and to do so with total respect for the environment.
