Blockchain technology is a source of opportunities for companies in the sector, which are evolving their systems and processes towards what the new digital consumers demand with the constraints set by the latest regulations approved in trust environments and data protection. And it is precisely this that underpins MailTecK&Customer Comms’ CertySign tool.
This was explained, in a technical way but through manageable concepts, by Sergio G. Miranda, Head of Blockchain Technology and R&D Innovation Programs at AT Sistemas. Early in the presentation, the specialist unveiled how blockchain technology streamlines the journey of information and valuable assets, revolutionizing exchange systems by eliminating intermediaries. Always, with full guarantee and confidence in the reliability of the operations. For Miranda, the MailTecK group is “a pioneer in the use of blockchain technology for a real boost to its activity”, which, taking into account its customer service model, translates into process efficiency and regulatory compliance for customers who use its solutions.
Next, Santiago Chamat, from Chamat Abogados, gave a tour of some of the legal challenges that arise around the use of this technology in the insurance sector and in smart contracts.
“Not because it is digital, a document lacks legal force.” cautioned Chamat, who described how CertySign and Blockchain comply with the specifications set by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the General Data Protection Act (GDPR). the European electronic identity recognition system, better known by its acronym, eIDAS. Among the challenges he unpacked were questions such as who regulates and how, and concepts such as territoriality or validity as a Blockchain registry, i.e. as a valid legal tool.
This platform, as Echebarría explained immediately afterwards, brings together in a single place the technology needed to certify evidence and safeguard it, for example for 6 years in accordance with IDD regulations, to obtain consent for the processing of personal data, to manage telematic headings with electronic signature and to generate secure multichannel communications, as well as automated mailings. In addition, it allows you to work in an Alastria Blockchain environment.
Those attending the presentation were then able to see how CertySign’s possibilities allow the contractual relationship between company and client to be formalized in just seconds and with complete confidence and legal validity.
At this point, which we could consider the most practical part of the presentation, Juan Miguel Hernández, responsible for Blockchain development at Customer Comms, gave a detailed description of a certified online contracting process for an insurance policy. This journey, which Moisés Fimat, senior consultant at MailTecK&CustomerComms, later walked through as if it were a real customer registration, included stages such as the prior identification of the customer, the provision of documentation and the electronic signature, while obtaining the SEPA mandate and the RGPD consent. At the end of his lecture, the expert explained how the evidence of the process is stored in a secure repository of the Alastria ecosystem.
