On Tuesday the 10th we celebrated our 30th anniversary with a birthday party in an impressive setting, the Auditorium 400 of the Reina Sofia Museum (Madrid), accompanied by the people and companies that have made this journey possible: customers, partners and employees. In 2010 we also chose this space to formalize one of the key moments of the group, as was the beginning of a new stage with the creation of MailTecK. At that time we talked about the concept of evolution. This time the main idea and title of the event was “Transforming the future”. We did not celebrate it alone, but
in the excellent company of almost 400 people who wanted to join us. So we want to start with a thank you for being there.
For this event we counted on Leticia Iglesias, renowned journalist and media personality who led the session and the five excellent professionals who participated in it: Andy Stalman, César Tello from Adigital, Gonzalo Anguita from FSC Spain, Pilar Llácer from Air Europa and Cristina Guedán from SECUM. Javier Echebarría, CEO of MailComms Group, also gave voice to the company’s feelings. Our master of ceremonies kicked off the celebration with allusions to the talent, effort and heart that are needed to “make an extraordinary journey” like the one we have experienced at MailComms Group. The journalist and communicator mentioned the four companies that make up our group, MailTecK, Customer Comms, Contisystems and Unified Comms, and remembered the company with which it all began, Mailgráfica (whose name was changed in 2010 to MailTecK). He then gave way to a special 30th anniversary video and the speakers.
Transforming the future
The first to speak on behalf of MailComms Group was its CEO, Javier Echebarría. In the same environment as in 2010 and with many people who were already with us then, Javier emphasized how these 30 years would not have been possible without so many fellow travelers. During his speech, the CEO suggested that those present “reflect on the past, celebrate the present and look to the future”. He also spoke of adaptability and encouraged the company to take the direction it needs to take, even if that means completely modifying the business model to adapt to a changing environment. A little later, in the final part of the talks and in one of the most emotional moments,
Javier was surprised to receive a commemorative plaque for the 30 years of this trip and the applause with which the attendees recognized his work. He was accompanied on stage by his wife, undoubtedly also part of this achievement.
The keys to branding
Next, Andy Stalman, Mr. Branding (Totem), gave us a presentation full of reflections on branding, trust, courage, change and the value of people, among other ideas. Andy also referred to technology and its relationship with individuals:
“The meeting point between human and technology is yet to come, but the future is the combination of both (in reference to Artificial Intelligence)”. He left us with several phrases to always keep in mind, but one of the most celebrated was “a great brand is a promise kept”. Then it was the turn of the MailComms Talk, focused on three pillars: technology, sustainability and people.
Technology
César Tello, CEO at Adigital, was in charge of opening this time, and shared with the attendees his vision of AI that, for him, will be essential in the competitiveness of companies. The expert defended the development of responsible, ethical and value-based AI by design, and added a reflection: “AI has to be responsible to make sure that with this technology we are not going to make anything worse and if we can improve people’s lives”.
Undoubtedly his speech showed Adigital’s mission, which promotes a human and sustainable digitalization that contributes to the economic development and competitiveness of the country. A goal that we certainly share as members of Adigital.
Sustainability
Gonzalo Anguita, Executive Director of FSC Spain, took us on a journey into a forest and, with his words, made us connect with the environment. He then spoke to us about the three cyclones, all interrelated, that threaten the planet: the destruction of forests, the acceleration of climate change and the loss of natural life on earth. The solutions, as advocated by FSC and shared by Gonzalo, are decarbonization, efficiency in resource consumption, changes in habits and customs, reforestation and investment in natural capital. MailComms Group joins FSC’s work by using and promoting the use of certified paper.
Persons
Pilar Llácer, PhD in Philosophy and specialist in human resources and leadership, closed the cycle with her talk on people. “We are at a time when we have all the tools, but what we need to do is to touch the emotions” is a message that sums up well her intervention, in which she also invited us to value our legacy without forgetting that we live in the present. In addition, he highlighted some essential traits to move forward and make an impact: curiosity, friendship, the ability to stand still (and think), exemplarity, humility and will.
After the closing of the session in the auditorium, Cristina Guedán of SECUM and her expert guides accompanied all attendees on an exclusive private tour to see some of the main works of the Reina Sofía Museum. Works by Dalí, Picasso (with his emotional Guernica), Buñuel and Ángeles Santos, among others, were explained in detail. The final touch to the event took place in the impressive Nouvel lobby, a cocktail party where conversations among the attendees were as numerous as they were valuable.
An unforgettable night in which we celebrated the present, past and future of a great group.
